Some fun facts for all you lollipop lovers out there...
Lollipops were first made all the way back in 1908 by an American candy maker called George Smith, he named the hard candy after a race horse Lolly Pop, the name lollipop was the exclusive property of Smith until he stopped making the candies during the Depression.
On the 25th June 2002 the largest lollipop in the world was made, at 4,031 pounds, 18.9 inches in thick and 15 feet in height, a cherry lollipop as tall as a giraffe.
Though lollipops are high in sugar they are generally very low in fat at only 25 calories each so for those of you weight watchers out there this could be the perfect treat for you!
